UC San Diego Health has implemented a secure technology called Modern Authentication for email, Teams, and OneDrive access. As of April 27, 2021, applications that do not support this technology will be restricted from accessing Microsoft 365 services such as email, Teams, and OneDrive.
How does this impact health.ucsd.edu email users?
Important: You will NOT be impacted if using a secure application to access email, such as Outlook 2016 or newer. This change is also impacting mobile devices.
If you are currently accessing email via an unsupported application, you will have three options:
- If on a Managed UCSD Health Device, submit a Workstation Enhancement Request via http://3help.ucsd.edu to have your device updated.
Request Something > Desktop & Hardware Services - UCSD > Workstation Enhancement - Use the webmail at https://hsemail.ucsd.edu
- If on a personal/unmanaged device, please use an Outlook supported version to access email. Please note, only Health Sciences and Medical Center employees and students are eligible to download and install Microsoft Office.
